WATER
Rabbits must have fresh water daily!
SHELTER
A proper cage will protect your rabbit from inlement weather and predators. Hardware cloth is not proper cage material. You should use a 1x1 or 1x2,14 or 16 gauge galvanized wire.
OUR SC ENVIRONMENT
Most pet rabbits are housed indoors. If you are housing your rabbits outdoors please be aware:
Our winters are quite mild compared to some parts of the US and it should not be difficult to "winterize" your cage.
Summers are a different story. Rabbits can easily die from heat stroke. You must take precautions to help your rabbit survive. Shade must be provided at all times. Ice bottles can be placed in the cage. Fans can also help.

FOOD
Rabbits do best with pelleted feed. Most feed bags are dated. You should strive to use the food within 90 days of the mill date. Feed should be placed in an air-tight container to prevent the absorbtion of moisture. In our SC climate, you must watch for moldy food. The green feed will look gray and powdery. Do not feed your rabbit moldy food as it will make it sick.
Hay is very beneficial to your rabbit. However, it should be fed timothy (from stores) or coastal bermuda (from feed stores). Alfalfa is not a good hay.
